Eight O'Clock at the Oasis is the 5th episode of Season 3 of Gilmore Girls.

Synopsis[]

Lorelai is attracted to a man, a son of high society, she meets at an auction, but her parents fear if Lorelai dates him her behaviour could jeopardise their own status. Meanwhile, Rory needs Jess's help when she has trouble turning off a neighbour's sprinkler system.

  • While on the phone with Peyton Sanders, a voice-over has Lorelai saying that his jet just got back "from Maui," while her lips appear to say "from Bali." This episode aired ten days after a car bomb attack in Bali left 202 dead and 209 injured.
  • The book that Jess is reading when Rory runs into him is "Visions of Cody" by Jack Kerouac. (1993 Penguin edition.)
