Edward Herrmann (July 21st, 1943 - December 31st, 2014) was an Emmy and Tony-winning American actor. He portrayed Richard Gilmore on WB drama Gilmore Girls.

Career[]

In 1997, he won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor for his work on The Practice. He won a Tony award in 1976 for Best Actor in a Play for "Mrs. Warren's Profession". He has done a great deal of voiceover work, as well as undertaking a variety of television and movie roles. When the Gilmore Girls were to be part of a reunion panel at ATX in June of 2015, Herrmann was the first to RSVP that he was attending.[1]

Legacy[]

At the age of 71, Edward Herrmann died from brain cancer on December 31, 2014.[2] At the Gilmore Girls reunion panel at ATX in June of 2015 a seat was left open for him.[1]
